Indeed, this novel spans a massive period of forty years and has 1000+ pages this is no light reading it is deep, emotive and completely brilliant. I think it’s because it follows the characters through such a large proportion of their lives, resulting in a large amount of intimacy and investment with them. I’ve never be so emotionally invested in a story, as I was with this. (I don’t agree, but it is a valid and somewhat interesting opinion.) Some important points I gleaned: This book was so completely fantastic that I almost forgot the outside world existed when I was reading it. It’s better to really know your own culture’s canon before branching out to others. If you can afford it or your insurance will pay for it, it is worth it even later in life. I would ask your psychiatrist for help investigating this issue: some psychiatrists are qualified to diagnose cognitive issues/psychoeducational issues, most are not but they can refer you to an appropriate provider (usually a psychoeducational psychologist) for testing and consult. The book could have been dubbed, European Literature Italiano (2) My point is that Health Care Providers can get a little lazy, attributing everything to one diagnosis and missing the rest of the picture.
